The news of his demise was given out by Bill’s family members and they revealed that Bill suffered a respiratory failure due to which he passed away. The demise occurred on the 28th of September 2022 and he was 84 years old at the time of his death. At the time of his death, Bill was living in his residence in Washington, DC. Bill reported the fall of Saigon and Cambodia and covered the civil rights moment as well for which he was awarded and he went to Vietnam and covered the story four times. He used to host the CBS Sunday Night news from 1988 to 1995. Bill covered many historical moments, he even covered the elections from 1968 to 2016 and it was all the presidential elections.

Bill was a journalist who worked for 35 years continuously for CBS News during the reign of Ronald Reagan and covered each and every monumental news. He also covered various other reigns of the president such as the periods of Barack Obama, George Bush, and Bill Clinton.
